Stage Lift Control Replacement

We recently completed a full replacement of the Stage Lift control system at the Blizzard Theatre at Elgin Community College in Elgin, IL.

The college did not have a fully functioning stage lift system so they put out for bid a replacement to an antiquated system without having to change out the entire pit lift.

Working with our ViaController and our system integration, we were able to put in an updated motor control cabinet and a wall mounted control panel that will easily allow the trained staff to operate this original system with a push of a button.

“Massive” black and white velour drapery surround Brooklyn’s music venue, National Sawdust, creating an “acoustic envelope”.   We built and installed a line-shaft for lighting positions and all of the drapery is hanging on iWeiss curtain track and attached by custom brackets into the solid concrete shell.

National News – Kings Theatre

This past Saturday NBC Nightly News did a story on the Kings Theatre Re-Opening. It was a brief story, but boy did it show the grandeur of the space. Find 2 minutes and 44 seconds to watch this clip, you will want to run out and buy tickets to see this space in person.

To read the full story on our work in this fantastic space please take a look at our Portfolio Page.

Marist College

iWeiss recently completed a renovation at Marist College in the Music Building and Student Center Renovations.

The Nelly Goletti Theatre received all new Drapery, including a New House Curtain  and Valance with a Full Stage Set of IFR Velour Masking.  The new Choir, Symphony  and Ensemble Rooms all required acoustic treatments that both provided function  and blended well into the architecture.

In the Choir Room we installed twelve AcoustaCorp Acouroll Banners. The  Symphony Room required floor to ceiling drapery to mask the large picture  windows. To accomplish this we installed four iWeiss ViaTravelers with an iWeiss control station along with Custom Fabricated IFR Drapery to complete the acoustic  properties. Ensemble room was outfitted with curtain tracks and IFR Drapery.

With beautiful architecture, our drapery, and all of the equipment, Marist College  now has a fully functioning Music Building and Student Center.

Austrian Curtains

An Austrian Curtain is fabricated as one piece and consists of multiple rows of scallops or swag.  It is shirred along the top to provide a certain amount of horizontal fullness which determines the depth of each scallop.  The scallops in turn can be created by shirring the fabric vertically along each row.  Shirring provides small tight scallops.  This combinations of vertical and horizontal fullness creates a very rich and dramatic effect.

An Austrian is typically rigged  fly out in one piece or it may to gather up by means of cable running through rings sewn vertically to the back of the curtain along a predetermined number of lift lines.  This is useful when there is no fly space.

Our ViaWinch is a prefect example of a automation solutions for an Austrian Curtain.  You can incorporate a Standard (10) Lift Line Clew and easily operate a beautiful Austrian in your space.

The possibilities are endless when it comes to materials used for an Austrian Curtain.  We have made them out of standard Velour, sheers, and satins, but have also made them out of RIBBONS and SILICON TUBING!
